Graham Rodger - BIOGRAPHY
Since resigning as a Queensland Ambulance Officer and becoming a full time professional entertainer, Graham has made a huge impression on the industry. His name has become synonymous throughout the land with quality Australian Ballads. He performs across the country bringing his show to outback towns in the style of the travelling Slim Family show.
Graham is a passionate Australian who enjoys entertaining. Being able to write and sing Aussie Bush Ballads and to share his great love of our nation with others gives him a great deal of pleasure. Keeping Australia and Australians as his major theme for his ballads ensures that Graham will always uphold the traditions cemented by the late Slim Dusty.
Slim was one of the many within the industry who acknowledged Grahamís exceptional writing skills and was pleased on several occasions to record his material. One of the most notable was "You Can't Take Australia From Me". This ballad so impressed and expressed Slim's feelings that the family had Dick Smith recite it as a poem at Slim's funeral.
The number of awards that Graham has won, particularly at Tamworth is a tribute to his talents. On several occasions he has taken out the Peopleís Choice Award for Male Vocalist of the Year which reflects on the quality of his voice, however his talents do not stop there. Graham has won fifty-seven Major Awards across Australia. You only have to sit back and listen to some of his CDs and you will fully appreciate the depth of that talent.
Born and raised in the rural town of Gympie in south-east Queensland, Graham is fiercely passionate about his country and his music. The song "The Battle of Long Tan" has been officially embraced by the Australian Vietnam Vets as their preferred song to honour their deeds. Graham also wrote a song for the Vet in remembrance of The Battle of Coral/Balmoral which occurred after Long Tan.
It is often asked which has the greatest influence on Grahamís works Ė his passion or his talent. Whatever the answer to that question, Graham's songs will transport you into the theatre of your mind. When composing a ballad he does not just tell a story, Graham paints a very vivid picture. You will not be disappointed with any of his CDs.
